Turning Heads Linkup – Wearing a Spring Dress with Sneakers

I wasn’t sure about this look when it first became popular. Visions of ladies in suits with large, clunky Reebok sneakers from my teenage days when I worked in downtown Pittsburgh filled my head. Today, though, a “sleeker sneaker” ( you like that?) such as these classic converse, are worn as a casual style with a longer periwinkle dress. Getting my things together today to head to Harleysville, PA, as we visit my in-laws for a week. We leave on Thursday. We make it a trip each Memorial Day to see family, and the bonus is I get to visit my brother in VA on the way there. We make a pit stop at his place and break up the ride as it is a long trip otherwise. Good news! We think. We had a trial run with Truffles in the car down to my PT about an hour away, and she did quite well after we gave her the Silio med, Not “dazed and confused” just seemed more relaxed. I told her to sit down and she did and laid in the back without frantically trying to get up front. There may be hope afterall! My Outfit This outfit- […]

How We Style Gingham- Mustard Yellow Gingham Blouse and Denim Skirt

Today my friend, Kellyann,  This Blonde Shopping Bag,  and I are stying Gingham looks. Gingham is one of those prints that just is so classic, it doesn’t go out of style. If you missed some of my shopping picks and previous gingham looks, read Friday’s post-Gingham Picks for Spring.  We decided to each style our own outfits and include Gingham in the looks. It really is fun when you can collaborate with another blogger friend and share your inspiration. So go visit her blog too, I ‘ve been very fortunate to get to know her this year. I bought this top from Mango ( yes, most things I am buying are from there) as I loved the fuller sleeves and subdued mustard yellow gingham print, a bit different from the traditional navy blue or red gingham. Truffy is photobombing! 🙂 If my hubby had kept shooting, we would have had a parade of photobombers! It seems “our spot” is getting more and more popular. I expected a VW bug to roll up at the entrance of the bridge and the inevitable clown car empty with people of varying heights. The parade would continue with teenagers, bikes and other dog walkers. […]

Gingham Pieces for Spring-Some of My Picks

Next week, I will be sharing a gingham look,  along with my friend, Kellyann, just one of several that I have from my closet for Spring. Something about this look evokes warm and fuzzy feelings from me, as I think of this vintage pattern. It makes me think of that picnic tablecloth in red and white squares From post- Pink Gingham and White Denim I loved this larger gingham pattern from last year at Banana Republic. Read the post HERE. Gingham My mom told me she had a number of gingham pieces when she grew up. Boy, I wish I had mom’s clothes to look through, I am sure there were some treasures! I’ll be talking a bit more about gingham and what I am wearing on Monday’s post, but for now, what makes it so popular? Could it be that The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie as a child, and Dorothy wore that memorable blue gingham dress? Gingham has a nostalgic feel for me, and you can envision it in other musicals like Oklahoma and others. I do like musicals! Remember Gilligan’s Island? I can still sing all the words to the opening song.! Maryann, was […]

Turning Heads Linkup – Mustard Floral Midi Dress

Hello friends I mentioned one of my favorite types of dresses lately is the midi dress. I do think it is a classy looking length that looks great on everyone. I saw this mustard floral and white bold floral dress on Mango, as I have been loving their Spring season collection. My Outfit What do you get when you pair some white lace espadrilles with a bucket bag, minimal jewelry, and a shirt dress? An easy Springtime put together look! This pattern looked vintage or vintage-inspired to me, and I couldn’t resist the sunny mustard color mixed with white. I love the bolder pattern and the comfort can’t be beat. Who said “comfort” was a 4 letter word, do you know what I mean? I was so excited to buy this dress, I didn’t wait for a sale and snagged it straightaway as the Spring collection came out on Mango. Want to see other Mango dress I bought this season read here- Stylish Mondays- Styling florals and New Mango Dress. I couldn’t find the dress now, but they do have the print in a top. What is great about shirt dresses is the different ways this can be worn. […]

Target Blouse and Light Denim

Happy Monday friends, , I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.  I made sure to call my Mom and I sent her some items from Soft Surroundings as a surprise. Tarshay. Target. The Red Bullseye. Yep that store has had some great lines through the years. This soft blue and olive top, by Prologue,  in its patterned and painted style, caught my eye on a recent trip. My Outfit One of my blogger friends said they don’t see me in blues very often. So, here we are! I have added a few pieces to my wardrobe with baby blue and olive here, and the soft sky blue of this Soft Surroundings tunic. This top just looked dreamy to me, as if I was looking at the clear blue sky while sitting under the trees- seeing olive green, branches and blue hues. Prologue, a newer line at Target, has some striking pieces. I bought this top in an XS and it fits me perfectly. Here are some other Target items from Prologue I am eyeing- Love this silky tank in rose,  this green belted midi dress, and this pretty yellow and green dress,  Lighter wash jeans are popular […]

Chronic Illness – Why It’s so Important to Have Support

May is Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month. The Symbol for EDS is the Zebra- “In medicine, the term “zebra” is used in reference to a rare disease or condition. … Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is considered a rare condition and so EDS sufferers are known as medical zebras.” Wiki.( credit). Its been 11 years I have dealt with this condition, and I realize the importance of support is crucial in my wellness. EDS- Chronic Illness I have had this condition, or I should say, experienced serious symptoms and chronic pain now for around 11 years. It effects so many young and older people and having to grasp this makes me think I was “lucky”. I don’t know how i would have dealt with pain and dislocations at a young age, growing up is hard enough! My husband and I have been through the gamut of specialists- rheumatologists, sports medicine, orthopedics, neurologist.. many -“ologists.” We have been to hospitals, going through treatments of prolotherapy, dry needling, myofascial release, biofeedback,  and more. It’s hard to think of all of the things we have done and tried to get out of pain, have some relief, and understanding. I do feel lucky that my husband has stood by me […]

Happy Monday ladies! Did you enjoy the weekend? We did meet with a friend and celebrated with some excellent Mexican food and margaritas. Isn’t that the standard? I’m also sharing these neutral black and taupe slip on called the Bloom sandal from Jambu footwear. Stylish Monday- How We Style Florals- New Mango Dress

Ladies.  By now you know I love florals. I usually go for the larger print though, and not the tiny roses that remind me of a Grandma’s afghan. ( Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) Today we are looking at how the Stylish Monday group of ladies, styled florals. I’ve been excited to style this new flowy Mango dress, and thought it was time to wear it 🙂 Weekend So how was your weekend? Did you celebrate Cinco De Mayo? We did meet up with a friend at the local Mexican restaurant, Verde, for some fun margaritas and chit chat. That is my kinda partying. Over the weekend, my husband worked on the exterior- laying down red mulch, using the sprayer for cleaning the exterior of the house as well as the walkway. I’m in charge of more of the interior- at least things I can do. Bathroom scrubbing and mopping were in order. Isn’t it always that way when you have company! You try and get the house looking as best as possible.! My mom is coming at the end of the month, so we try! Now, I need to get plants for the front door and I […]

InTroducing Graydon Skincare – Natural Beauty Products

Now that the weather has changed, and we are getting more “official Spring weather” here in Charlotte, I often want to look at the products I am using and change a few things for the warmer months. Graydon Skincare reached out to me and sent me two of their products, and I can say, I am all for the “You are What you Eat” mentality. Natural Skincare A bit about Graydon Skincare, an eco-beauty brand, with its roots in Canada. Graydon believes in pure plant-based ingredients with natural transformative power and plant-based ingredients that you don’t need a thesaurus to spell. Think of things you may put on your plate- vegetables, According to Graydon, “We employ nutrients that work synergistically with the skin and are in harmony with nature and our environment. Keeping that in mind, consider that the life-force (aka energy ‘prana’ or ‘qi’) of your skin interacts with the life-force of everything applied to it… so unlike most skincare lines where products are essentially dead (because the ingredients and chemicals they contain have no life-force)” *website “Inspired by the beauty of the moon and feminine lunar cycles, our Fullmoon Serum helps improve and protect your skin’s natural […]

Turning Heads Linkup – Soft Surroundings Pastel Tunic with White Denim

This is look number two from Soft Surroundings. If you missed a neutral look I put together from Soft Surroundings yesterday, read it here. I have been enjoying wearing neutrals, florals, and have now today, styled this light blue silk tunic with white denim. My outfit I chose this beautiful silk tunic, the Adele Silk Tunic in baby blue, as I loved the light airy look, and its a color I don’t have much of in my closet. I love the lower hem in the back and the flowy style. I do love the contrast between the soft pastel blue and white embroidery. This is as light as a feather and who could pass up silk? Soft Surroundings describes this tunic as “relaxed elegance”. I love that! You can be comfortable and elegant! I instantly saw this with white- either white jeans or trousers, or light wash skinny jean. I am wearing my Loft skinny jeans and paired it with my floral block heels, from Soft Surroundings. ( last yr). They are now at Soft Surroundings Outlet on-line and on-sale! So go for it! I love a mix of texture with the white flowers of the shoes and my Brahmin […]
